Landlords: finish your listing with the details renters need

A practical guide for a new listing or an imported draft on Furnished Unfurnished.

Open your saved property and work through the four areas below. Save each step as you go. This guide helps you prepare the content; it does not replace the other location, contact, amenities, documents, review, subscription or verification steps shown for your account.

Checkmarks are a reading aid in this page only. They reset on reload and do not save or update your listing.

Show the actual property.

Where to work: Photo Gallery.

A renter should be able to understand the space from the photos, including the practical parts.

Missing a photo? Make a specific shot list: “bathroom,” “parking space,” or “laundry area.” That is easier to act on than “take better photos.”

Explain what living there means.

Where to work: Basic Info → description; Description & Details → property facts.

Write useful facts first. “Beautiful property” does not answer whether the kitchen is shared or where the washing machine is.

Use the template below as a starting point. Replace every bracket, delete anything that does not apply, and make sure the written description agrees with the selected fields.

Make the costs easy to understand.

Where to work: Description & Details → Monthly Rent and Fees.

A renter should be able to distinguish the monthly cost from one-time charges and a refundable deposit.

Use the cost worksheet below before entering the listing. It is a preparation aid, not an automatic quote or a payment request.

Make the dates usable.

Where to work: Availability Calendar.

Availability should reflect when someone can actually move in, not when the draft was created.

Last check: could a renter tell when they can move in and how long they need to stay without sending you a message?

Cost worksheet

ChargeAmount / detailsExplain
Monthly rent$_____Per month
Other recurring charges$_____What / how often?
One-time charges$_____What / when?
Refundable deposit$_____Keep separate from fees
Conditional charges$_____Only if the condition applies
Utilities / cap_____Included? Renter-paid? Limit?

Illustrative arithmetic only: $2,500 monthly rent + $1,000 refundable deposit + $150 one-time cleaning fee = $3,650 if all three are charged at move-in. The deposit is separate from the rent; this example is not a real listing, platform price or estimate for your property. Add any other applicable charges and explain conditional costs separately.

Before the final review

  • Photos show the actual property and match the furnishing being offered.
  • Description and selected fields agree on the unit, laundry, pets and inclusions.
  • Monthly, one-time, refundable and conditional amounts are distinguishable.
  • Move-in date and minimum stay match the calendar and actual commitments.
  • Address, contact details and every remaining step flagged in the account have been checked.
